Banshee Class Sailboats
I have a Banshee sailboat - the class began its life at about the same time as the Laser class did. I visited the factory in California, was in touch with the owner, and of course sailed my Banshee. At one point, the class rules about officers was running off the rails, for reasons I don't understand. Anyway, one of the last remaining officers, using some rule I never tracked down, appointed me as President of the class. I figured I was a transitional figure - that with some web presence, someone else would fairly soon be elected to replace me. That never happened; but the California-based "Fleet One" become the center of action, and their leader (and of this writing, I don't know who that is) should really be considered the "head of the class".
Anyway, in my active short-term of office (which technically hasn't changed, which is rather unfortunate) I did a web page for the class. One part was a list of Banshee owners by state - password-protected, but somehow it still got scraped for spam messages. This was maybe 20 years ago.
The class for a while was best representated by "Fleet One" in California. Now it seems there's a new group out there:
