Bentz Engineering

This company has been my main vehicle for professional work for some time, though it is worth reading the Personal Background section for a more complete picture of my activites. Due to the classified nature of some of my work the description here has to unfortunately remain somewhat vague.

Founded in 1996, Bentz Engineering, offers consulting and system development
services in the following areas:

Clients have been (or are) in both commercial areas and government agencies. I (Bryan Bentz) am the primary researcher, though I have a 'stable' of domain experts I bring in as needed for particular projects.

The commercial work has involved developing custom instrumentation for some companies, and working with the power industry - both at the strategic planning level and in optimizing substation operations near New York City. One publication from the first area is "Managing Assets from a Portfolio Perspective" in the Oil & Gas Journal (11/30/98), pg 54. Another area of work involved building empirical thermodynamic models of older buildings through instrumentation and measurement for a period of time, in order to develop algorithms to optimize heating and cooling.

The government work has been entirely classified, though it also involved developing unique instrumentation and data collection, as well as certain aspects of computer security. I have been involved in proposal evaluation for the gov't, which was an interesting change, having usually been on the other side, writing and submitting them.

Now, as an elected official in Stonington CT (though part-time), I've reduced my workload, and primarily continue work on the gov't side.

I am most easily reached via my email address:
